Data Collection and Systems

The foundation

What data you have, whether you can trust it, and the people, routines and checks that will produce it again next year without us. Most sustainability projects fall over here, not at the clever analysis stage.

What you get

  • A list of your data, with every figure traced back to a meter, an invoice, an ERP record, a supplier declaration or an estimate, ranked by how far you can trust it
  • A list of what is missing, what it would take to get it, and what it is holding up
  • Agreed definitions, units and boundaries, plus a dated library of emission factors, so last year's number can still be explained next year
  • Written steps with names against them, a calendar of what is due when, and a trail an auditor can follow
  • Where you file a BRSR, each disclosure mapped to the record that answers it, so the return is assembled from your own data rather than rebuilt from scratch every year. For the BRSR Core attributes that need assurance, we prepare the evidence an assurance provider will ask for. We do not provide the assurance ourselves
  • Templates for asking suppliers and a realistic plan for chasing them, plus tool requirements and a rollout you can run yourselves

Standards

Data gets collected and documented to suit the study it will feed. For life cycle work that means ISO 14040 and 14044: agreed units, a stated boundary, a rule for splitting shared impacts, and a data-quality note against each figure, written down at collection time rather than reconstructed afterwards.

How work is scoped and priced

  • If an advisory question turns out to need one of the services, we quote it as that service rather than bill you advisory hours.
  • Time and price depend on the size and complexity of the site or product, how deep the supply chain goes, how much of your own data already exists, and whether an independent review is included. Each one is quoted in a written proposal before any work starts.
